Born in Germany in 1883, Joseph H. Pilates had a lifelong interest in body conditioning. While interned in England during World War I for his German citizenship, he started to systematize his body conditioning method. This system formed the foundation for his style of body conditioning and specialized exercise apparatus. When Joseph Pilates passed away in 1967, his method of body conditioning was recognized as the most efficient and effective system of body development and continues to be practiced by leading athletes, performers and fitness enthusiasts across the globe.

Romana Kryzanowska

Romana Kryzanowska is the world-renowned protégé of Joseph Pilates. Romana taught the method for nearly six decades after making a commitment long ago to Joe and Clara Pilates to continue their life's work. Romana delivered on that promise by traveling the world mentoring apprentices and teaching the next generation of instructors.
